About This Novel

This article is set in the author's hometown of Shiba Township on the banks of the Western Han River. The story is based on a real case that he personally experienced many years ago. The "whirlpool" is not only the dangerous current dug out by the sand dredger on the river bed, but also the undercurrent of intertwined interests, human nature and legal principles.
