About This Novel
During the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, the second concubine Hu of Mei Jun, the magistrate of Yingzhou, became pregnant. The third concubine, Xu, was jealous and colluded with the fortune teller Zhao Banxian to falsely call Hu a demon fetus in an attempt to harm her. The maid Shouchun overheard the incident and protected Hu's escape. When she gives birth to a baby, she wears the Mirror of Heaven, Earth, Fortune and Longevity on her body. When they encountered mountain bandits, Hu was taken prisoner and the baby was abandoned by the roadside. The baby was raised by Lin Heshi, the general town of Ningwu. Hu was released by the bandit's wife and became crazy because of his longing for his son. Shouchun went through many hardships to serve the Hu family. Seventeen years later, Hu's son Lin Bixian grew up and learned about his mother's murder. Later he won the first prize and met Hu. Because Xiang wears a mirror of fortune and longevity, mother and son can recognize each other. Lin Bixian returned home to serve his mother, Mei Jun regretted his crime and confessed, and the evildoer got his due end.
