Why do so many people hate and dislike the protagonist when they see the protagonist join the national army? There are too many rules and there is no freedom, and the protagonist has secrets.

I just read it out of boredom until I reached chapter 27. . I lament that the protagonist has no selfish motives. It is also a role for the country and the people. No one will probably watch a selfish character, right? Alas, but to be honest, it's a bit unbearable to have so many restrictions on the characters. Very different.
