About This Novel

The earth is in the "ninth civilization cycle". Every 12,000 years or so, the solar system passes through a special nebula in the Milky Way (or the Earth's inner core undergoes periodic oscillations), causing "disturbances in physical laws." This perturbation causes: Strong magnetic storm: Instantly destroy all electronic equipment based on electromagnetic induction (chips, generators, power grids). Material decay: Synthetic metals and polymer materials age, embrittle, and disintegrate rapidly. Consequences: Any race that develops industrial or information civilization will be instantly knocked back to the Stone Age. History has been cleared and civilization has been broken.
