About This Novel
Shen Yunhe, a young history doctor in the 21st century, accidentally obtained a mysterious ancient book while researching archives from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The ancient books radiated light on a thunderstorm night, bringing him into an overhead time and space that was "half like the Ming and Qing dynasties, half not historical." This dynasty in time and space is both like the Ming Dynasty and an empire that has never appeared before: there are huge differences between technology, culture, military and reality. In this strange but familiar dynasty, Shen Yunhe relied on modern knowledge and historical perspective to get involved in palace struggles, border wars and civil affairs. He must choose between "recording history as a bystander" and "rewriting history as a participant." Every choice may trigger a huge historical fission. This is a story about power, faith and destiny, and also a process of mutual shaping between the "travelers" and the "traveled world".
