The Man Wearing an Emerald Plume: News Circle Chronicles

About This Novel
Many friends asked me why I wrote the novel "The Man with the Jade Feather Pipe". I said that I wanted to write about the current living conditions of Chinese intellectuals that I observed. Observing the intellectuals from all walks of life in a country can often reveal the past and present of the country and see the future of the country. I have been a teacher in a technical school for several years, and have worked in a media with a lot of intellectuals for more than 30 years. I feel comfortable writing about these familiar people and things! "The Man with the Jade Plume" is the name of my novel. Maybe after reading it, people will ask, why not call it "The Chronicles of the Beijing News Circle"? Wouldn't that make the name louder and more attractive to readers? There are hundreds of news media in BJ, with tens of thousands of reporters and editors. Over the past 30 years, I have held the business cards of journalists from various newspapers, and at most I have only had more than 8,000 business cards. Of course, we have exchanged business cards with these people. That is to say, I don't know most of the reporters and editors. I may have met some of them, but I don't know their names. This team is really huge, and I feel like I can't afford to write about their success. I had no choice but to start with a few journalists who were fond of jade quills from the Qing Dynasty. I added a little bit of color and mixed things up, and wrote more than 1 million words. I opened up a corner of the capital's news circle, took a peek inside, picked up one or two treasures, and used them to make wedding clothes for those who came after me. Of course, what I can be proud of is that this novel of mine is the first million-word workplace novel that describes the Beijing news circle. It takes the first place, which is enough for me!
