I seriously suspect that the author was reading the book and saw that the characters he liked were written so life-or-death that he was very upset. Then he wrote the book himself and went in to write the other characters. I guess the author was recalling other uneasy feelings.
Killing is not exciting enough. I kept reading files there, reloading and reloading. If you talk about retaining memory to kill, that's pretty cool.
