Well, Mu Yi's books on ancient criminal investigation are more to my liking.
A modern forensic doctor travels through the Tang Dynasty with an examination box, accompanied by a little girl who swears loyalty to the death. The beginning is really novel. Although the ending of the ancient criminal investigation story is not very pleasant, the case is still worthy of consideration.
