1993 Turn Around Life
by Sima Gui
About This Novel
In 1993, Guangdong was a place where hundreds of rivals competed for success. Heroes and geniuses gathered here. There was the rusty smell of money and blood in the air, and Hong Kong movies were played non-stop in the video hall. Young people danced disco with tape recorders, old people practiced Qigong with pot lids on their heads, bikers rode motorcycles through the night, and the mahjong parlor in the urban village was lit up all night long. Liu Mingwang, who had resurrected his life, stood on the top floor of a skyscraper, looking down at the world that had changed astonishingly. He raised his glass to toast his friends and opponents.

It's rare to find a Southern style novel that's not too exaggerated. I've read too many Northern clichés about rebirth, and it's very refreshing.
Very good, worth watching. Highly recommended.
