I am a veteran. I love my country and my fellow citizens. I have faced blood and fire, war and smoke, all so the people of this land could live in greater peace, even if it meant giving everything I had. I always believed I served my country and its people, but later I realized I was wrong. Wherever there are people, there are selfish motives; those with selfish motives will abuse their power and play political games. My comrades and I were victims of just such a power struggle.
Life before and after leaving the military was worlds apart. Though I was a soldier with extraordinary skills, I wasn’t suited to living in this world. Gradually, I came to understand the wickedness of human nature and the darkness of society. It all weighed heavily on me. For a time, I even questioned whether a country like this was worth protecting. I realized I couldn’t fit into society. Perhaps the best choice was to let myself be swept along by the tide and simply go with the flow.
I lived in poverty, but there was nothing I could do to change it. Then I met her. She changed my life and led me into another world, one shrouded in mystery and terror.
In the end, I finally understood: Life means living even when you’d be better off dead! If life has deceived you, don’t grieve. Deceive life right back, and do it with a vengeance.
