When the primordial qi divides, it becomes yin and yang; when further divided, it becomes the five elements. Though they move through the heavens, they truly emerge from the earth. When they flow, all things spring into being; when they gather, mountains and rivers take shape. Thus, the innate five elements return to qi, and once formed, become the five colors: blue, white, red, black, and yellow.
