I was once a mere scholar, determined to place first in the imperial examinations. By a twist of fate, however, I abandoned literature and took up cultivation. I entered the Way, cultivated it, and attained it. After enduring countless hardships, I finally achieved my goal. The golden path seemed laid out before me. I should have gone on my way singing, fulfilling my lifelong wish and my sect's expectations, and become a sage who had attained the Way. But when I looked back, I couldn't help asking: What is the “Way”? Only then did the scholar understand that the “Way” he had spent his whole life pursuing had always been right beside him. Whether to take it or leave it, and where to go from here, the scholar now knew exactly what to do.
