Shen Zhiwei lost her job, was drowning in debt, and had even been cheated out of her last bit of savings.
With nowhere else to turn, she started a fortune-telling livestream.
Nobody knew that this soft-spoken young woman could see the most pivotal moments in a person's fate.
For her first reading, she revealed that a girl who had been missing for three years was still alive.
For her second, she exposed a carefully concocted scam by an internet celebrity.
For her third, she made a tycoon who lorded it over everyone online bow his head in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers.
From then on, the whole internet waited for her to go live.
Some sought wealth, some asked about romance, and some wanted her to defy heaven and change their fate.
Shen Zhiwei turned no one away, but every time she acted, she charged a fitting price.
Then one late night, on a sudden impulse, she told her own fortune.
The reading gave only four words.
Dead within seven days.
She tried every method, but couldn't see how she would die.
Even stranger, the people whose fates she had changed began appearing one after another in her death prophecy.
Some wanted her to live.
Others were waiting for her to die.
And she had no idea whether, seven days later, she would meet with an accident or fall into a trap years in the making.
Shen Zhiwei looked at the steadily rising viewer count in her livestream and smiled.
"Since everyone is so eager to know when I'll die..."
"Let's find out together who dies in the end."
