[Seeking the Dao / Xianxia / Ensemble Cast / Classical Xianxia]
What is the Dao?
It is the toll of a bell atop Mount Cangwu, three years of silent sitting in the Yuntai Temple, a sky full of swordlight before the gates of the Taixu Sect when the Eight Demon Sects marched south, and an infant's cry amid the thousand-year-old bones of the Burial Grounds.
Yun Wuji, a hunter's son, lost his father at seven and his mother at nine. He studied medicine for ten years in Luoyun Village under his master. His innate Dao body was a death sentence: the Blood Demon Ancestor Mingxin changed faces every forty years as he hunted him, seeking the body that could be used to refine an immortal life.
His master left him only one word on his deathbed: Go north.
So north he went. He crossed the Northern Dark Cloudsea and entered the Taixu Sect, sitting in silent meditation for three years in a thatched hut on Seeking Dao Peak. He crossed the mortal world of Brightmoon City, saved his half-demon best friend, and endured the trial of his inner demons. When the Eight Demon Sects invaded from the south, the battle between good and evil stained the sky with blood. He climbed Mount Tianzhu to question the Heavenly Dao, asking three questions and receiving three answers. When he was done, he ascended.
What awaited him on the other side of ascension was not the Immortal Realm.
There were no gods in the rift on Mount Tianzhu. Only a Dao Ancestor who, three thousand years earlier, had carved all 9,900 stone steps, yet left the final step without a single word, and a question still waiting for an answer. The so-called "world above" was made by people.
The Dao is not in the heavens, but among the people.
Not on the far shore, but this one.
Not in the blank book behind us, but beneath the feet of every living person.
Ten volumes, two hundred chapters, 598,000 words, complete. A long cultivation tale inspired by the spirit of Zhuangzi's "Wandering Beyond the North."
