In September, a story quietly begins on the campus of Nanyu High School.
One is a boy who scored full marks in math, physics, and chemistry on the high school entrance exam, his brilliance just beginning to show, though he doesn’t realize it. The other is a quiet, composed girl who prefers to keep to herself. She excels in her studies, yet deliberately avoids the attention of the crowd. They meet in the same class, two parallel lines who begin to move toward each other’s worlds after a chance encounter during recess.
From playful bickering between classes to walking home together, from a physics competition to a late-night barbecue stand, from cautious strangers to growing understanding: the glances hidden in the margins of their workbooks, their shadows side by side beneath the streetlights, and the feelings and smiles that slip out unawares become the gentlest notes of this autumn.
This is a story about meeting and drawing closer. There are no earth-shattering confessions or dramatic twists, just affection quietly growing amid ordinary days, and two young people taking every awkward, sincere step toward each other.
Autumn is long, and the story is only just beginning.
