The Princess Raised a Spy from an Enemy State

Yun Zhen could see everyone's loyalty score.

Palace attendants, guards, court officials: even those most reluctant to obey her should have at least a zero above their heads.

Only Qi Lin had nothing.

When the Empress Dowager sent this guard, whose background was spotless and whose skills were excellent, to serve at her side, Yun Zhen took one look and knew:

There was something wrong with him.

But instead of sending him away, she kept him close.

She wanted to see how long he could keep up the act.

Later, she deliberately fed him false information and watched it leave the palace. He, too, used his position as a guard to investigate, little by little, the things he truly wanted to find.

Each believed they were the one moving the pieces.

But Qi Lin began concealing things for her that he had no reason to conceal, and again and again he strayed from his original mission for her sake.

And with every test, Yun Zhen grew more accustomed to having someone like him by her side.

One knew the other was full of secrets, yet still couldn't bring herself to push him away.

The other knew he would have to leave sooner or later, yet found it harder and harder to walk away.

She could see everyone's loyalty.

But she couldn't see when the man who had never had a loyalty score began to find it hard to leave her.

And neither could he.
