Qi Lin, 27, is an administrator in the Seventh Archive Room of the Archives. He has no special abilities or connections. His only skill is the database of patterns he built over three years of organizing death reports from "Rule Invasions." He never enters the scene. He only files reports. Then one night, the printer spits out a "List of Personnel Awaiting Filing." The final name is his own: tomorrow morning at 8:20, Bus 11, death. The list has been submitted. It will be filed in 60 seconds and cannot be revoked. Unable to ask for help or report it to anyone, he can only take the restricted "Return Manual" and enter the layer of rules himself. At 2 a.m., a colleague calls to say that they are on the list too, and plans to gather enough people with him to survive. Even worse, when Qi Lin uses the manual to go back ten minutes, he discovers that someone altered three lines in his older brother's archived report from three years ago. His death warning was written three years ago.
