Reborn in the bitter winter of 1983, Zhao Shanhe looks at the dilapidated house with nothing in it, his gravely ill grandmother lying in bed, and his little sister, gaunt with hunger. His heart is filled with regret.
In his previous life, he was a gambling addict. He sold his gun and squandered everything, causing his family to die tragically before eventually freezing to death on the street himself.
This time, he will never be a good-for-nothing again!
Relying on forty years of memories in his mind and his superb hunting skills, he takes up the old hunting rifle his father left behind and plunges into the vast Changbai Mountains.
Hunting roe deer, catching wild boars, digging up ginseng, gathering mountain produce. What others see as barren wilderness is Zhao Shanhe's treasure trove!
He stews a pot of hot roe deer meat to nourish his grandmother and trades for white flour and rice so his little sister can eat her fill.
Watch Zhao Shanhe make the most of the mountains in this momentous era, build a thriving life from the land, and make everyone who once looked down on him utterly beyond his reach!
