Luan Jin was born in the Ashen Rift and has been called a "mongrel" since childhood. His mother was half Lin and half Huan, his father’s whereabouts were unknown, and all three clans, the Huan, Lin, and Wei, regarded his very existence as a sin.
After finding the forbidden art, Twelve Temperings of the Countercurrent, in the library of Aitai Academy, he saw through the rules laid down by heaven: every time he grew stronger, he burned away a portion of his lifespan. The receding tide, the degree of erosion, and his remaining years: three tallies hung over his head, and the countdown began when he turned fourteen.
For a thousand years, the Nine Luminaries Heaven had ruled through divide and conquer, and mixed-blood descendants were its greatest taboo. Fleeing the pursuit of the three clans, he made close friends, gathered the nine pieces of the Ruined Bone Battle Armor, and gradually uncovered the truth behind the clans' division, until he discovered that the ninth piece of Ruined Bone was hidden inside him. He himself was the Countercurrent Battle Body.
Lifespan runs out, but the tide surges without end. If he could not overturn this world before he burned away, he and every mixed-blood descendant of the three clans would be erased by it.
