Xu Yuqiao opens her eyes and finds herself inside the Level 100 horror instance she just played.
The instance rules are now in effect: clear it and live, fail and be erased; pay rent every month, or be evicted from the manor; after ten every night, no matter who knocks, never open the door.
On the first day of her beginner protection period, a little bundle of cuteness grabs her leg and cries, calling her “Mom.”
Xu Yuqiao is so frightened she nearly drops dead on the spot. She’s never even been in a relationship, so where did this kid come from?
She tries to take Ruirui back to his real mother, but the little boy clings to her and refuses to let go. “I’ve waited so many years for you, Mom. Please don’t leave me.”
With no other choice, she takes her bargain-bin son along and struggles to survive each level.
But gradually, Xu Yuqiao realizes something is wrong.
The terrifying NPCs go out of their way to avoid Ruirui. While other players risk their lives trying to find mystery chests, Ruirui brings her piles of them every day. Coins, items, hidden clues: they all rain into her arms as if she has cheats enabled.
Xu Yuqiao has just started thinking that having a kid around isn’t so bad when she turns and sees Ruirui tugging at the clothes of a high-level player on their team, sweetly calling him, “Daddy!”
Daddy?!
Xu Yuqiao’s eyes widen in shock. She was just playing an instance, so how did she get a husband thrown in for free?
And Shen Yanzhi, the man who’s usually so aloof he seems like the System itself, is now copying Ruirui, clutching the hem of her clothes and looking utterly aggrieved.
“Wife, do you really not remember me?”
Xu Yuqiao: “…”
Just destroy this game already. It has to be targeting her.
Only later does she learn that what seems like coincidence has all been carefully planned, and that her family has come to lead her out of this deadly instance.
