On June 17, 1995, on an isolated island, seventeen children disappeared during a superstitious ceremony called "Trendy Girl Marriage". For thirty years, the truth was buried in silence. The lampkeepers wrote down their names in diaries, and the escaped women took their secrets to their graves.
Xu Chao is the daughter of an escapee. After her mother passed away, she returned to the island with her incomplete memories and an old diary. Together with Zhou Wang, the son of the lampkeeper, and Lin Guipo, the old man on the island, they spelled out the truth of that year. She chose to break the silence: contact reporters, accept interviews, accompany family members to find relatives, and also let the lighthouse light up again and engraved the names of seventeen children on the tower.
The report caused shock, the police intervened in the investigation, and family members landed on the island one after another. Some people let go of their hatred, some finally cried bitterly, and some left candies, photos and letters under the lighthouse. Xu Chao opened a bookstore and built a memorial hall on the island, guarding the lighthouse and those names until he grew old.
This is a story about sin, silence and redemption. The lights came on, the fog cleared, and those children were finally remembered and finally went home.
