The Different Kinds of Love Within Marriage and Family

This is a grounded, realistic romance about a woman's growth through marriage and everyday life. After five years unemployed and cooped up at home, A Tao reaches a turning point on the night her husband, A Jiang, asks her to throw away the baking tools she bought with three months' wages to make room for his mother. She pours out the untouched, cold rib soup and books a baking class.

With support from a community employment program, she starts with a small oven on her balcony and gradually opens two neighborhood bakeries by selling cookies on consignment in her apartment complex. There is no melodramatic divorce or vicious fighting. She uses concrete actions at every step to break the imbalance in their relationship: refusing to bake cakes for her husband for free, refusing to attend drinking parties and pour drinks in exchange for orders, and ultimately turning a dependent marriage into an equal partnership where both people are independent and respect each other.
