Yu Yuan, a graduate student specializing in minor languages, is dragged into a pool and drowned by a scarred orca while watching an orca show. When she wakes up, she finds herself transformed into an orca.
At the brink of life and death, another orca saves her. Terrified of dying, Yu Yuan immediately decides to stick with him. But this fish guy is aloof, arrogant, and sharp-tongued, and seems impossible to approach. Yu Yuan can only swallow her pride and cautiously test his limits, little by little.
She never expects that this cold fish guy is actually a lovesick romantic. Yu Yuan regrets finding out the truth, but by then there's no turning back, and the fish guy sticks so close behind her that she can't shake him.
Early on, the fish guy: “I wouldn't help an orca as embarrassing as you.”
Later, the fish guy: “I caught you a ray. I'll let you have it if you stop being mad at me...”
Yu Yuan: “What did you say?!”
The fish guy: “Honored leader of the pod, I went out of my way to catch you a ray. Would you do me the honor of tasting it?”
As he speaks, he ingratiatingly rubs against Yu Yuan and awkwardly coos:
“Pay attention to me, Yuanyuan.”
