Luoyang City, the Imperial City of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
The imperial palace is divided into the South Palace and the North Palace. The South Palace is where the emperor goes to court, and its main hall is the Deyang Hall; the North Palace is the harem, where the emperor and the queen and his concubines live. There is an independent Yong'an Palace to the east, where the East Palace used to be.
On Buheli Street outside Yong'an Palace, there is a tall mansion with the word "Shifu" written on it. However, the owner who lives here is not a relative of the emperor or a member of the imperial court, but an ordinary Taoist named Shi Zixuan.
