Spiritual energy suddenly revived, animals began to mutate, and humans became summoners.
But society did not collapse. Mutated pets and summoners became part of everyday life.
In some corner of some city, a lazy shopkeeper dozed in a recliner. Beside him, a little chubby dragon with icy blue scales ate a popsicle as it flapped its wings, sending a cool breeze toward the sleepy shopkeeper.
On the floor, a blue-and-white kitten chased a round-faced, chubby little chick, having the time of its life.
In a cage in the distance, a mischievous parrot watched people's expressions, afraid it might end up as a snake's dinner.
A plump, round ginger cat came downstairs and meowed twice. Seeing that someone was asleep, it skillfully opened a drawer, found a pack of dried fish wrapped in five layers of boxes, and began munching away.
This was an unusual pet shop.
It sold all kinds of marvelous pets and also offered consultations on how to help pets advance.
There was only one like it, and no branches anywhere else.
