Rekindle Your Youth

Thirty-six-year-old Zhang Yang lives a life that is "okay" in the eyes of others. Stable job, fixed schedule, no worries about food and clothing, everything you need is available. But every time in the dead of night, he always felt that something was missing in his heart. He couldn't tell what it was. He only knew that the place was empty and had not been filled in for many years. On the day of his high school reunion, he stood in front of the hotel window and watched the snow. Behind him was a room full of excitement and most of the faces he hadn't seen in nearly twenty years. Someone called his name, and he turned around - it was Tang Ning. He remembered the sunshine under the sycamore tree in his freshman year of high school, and the words he clenched his fists but never dared to say. I drank too much and took a nap. When I opened my eyes again, the ceiling turned into the incandescent light that flickered slightly in the classroom of Class 1 (3) of Zhiyuan Middle School in 2004. He was seventeen again. The sycamore leaves outside the window were just right green, and his deskmate was urging him to hand in his homework. Tang Ning's back in the front row was coated with a furry golden edge by the sunlight. I carry living expenses in my pocket, and my heart contains vague and clear memories of the next twenty years - things hidden in the gaps of the years. Zhang Yang knew that if he really lived his life again, he would never think about glory, wealth, and power. He wanted to try the answer he didn't dare to say, and he wanted to remember the people and things that he should have grasped but let go, and the place in his heart that had been empty for too long, just so that he would not regret it. He wants to find his own place in this era, and let the young man who came out of the county town be ignited every step of the way.
