Introduction to "To My Star"
In 2221 AD, 24-year-old Chen Xinghe led the Xinghe expedition team to the Centauri star system, becoming the first person to set foot outside the solar system. Immediately, the ship lost contact and there was no news. In the same year, his son Chen Yuhang was born on Earth.
Twenty-five years later, Chen Yuhang was selected as the core astronaut of the "Explorer" deep space mission, aiming directly at Proxima b, where his father disappeared. Taking the old metal box left by his mother and a badge engraved with "To my star, no matter how far away", he embarked on this destined to be unusual road.
During the four-month voyage at the speed of light, Chen Yuhang pieced together his father's final trajectory from scattered file fragments - a record of abnormal vital signs, a coded signal labeled "equipment noise", and a "don't come" warning. After arriving at Proxima b, he discovered an automated network that had lasted for hundreds of years under the gray-blue surface: a dark gray plate in an alcove, a low-frequency signal that had been emitting for twenty-five years, and a line of words carved by his father on the pedestal - "I made a choice. The people below are your business."
When Chen Yuhang finally stood in front of the device at the deepest point of the core node, he heard the words left to him from his father's recording: "Whether I go there or not is your own business. What you do after you go there is also your own business." What he was looking for was never an answer, but a door that he could decide whether to open.
A pursuit of the stars spanning twenty-five years, a story about how the weight of "choice" is handed over between two generations.
