"The Son of Caotangzhuang Zhuolin" is a documentary-style novel based on the changes in rural education in China and the life of a rural teacher as the main line.
The story begins in the 1960s in the hinterland of central Anhui - Caotang Village at the west foot of Zipeng Mountain in the southwest of Luzhou, in the north of Fuding Mountain, and on the bank of Shiyan Lake. Young Chen Zhuolin studied hard under the kerosene lamp. Thanks to his mentor's advice, he was admitted to the normal school. After graduation, he returned to his hometown Fudingshan Junior High School and became a physics teacher. From then on, he never left.
From stepping onto the podium for the first time, to using hemp straw, medicine bottles, and grinding wheel ash to make homemade teaching aids to open the door to the physical world for children; from serving as secretary of the Youth League Committee, to taking over logistics; from traveling to eighteen village primary schools to maintain distance education "Skynet", to He was in charge of the cafeteria of his alma mater to protect the "safety of the tongues" of teachers and students; from teaching pinyin to children under the lamp, setting rules and raising children, to reuniting with old friends after 45 years in the spring that was belated for his professional title, he changed positions several times, but he never left the podium.
He has no earth-shattering achievements, has never been in a prominent position, and even faltered and experienced many ups and downs on the road to promotion. But he spent his whole life answering one question: What is a teacher? Study high as a teacher and be upright as a model; take root downwards and grow upwards; grow into a forest in the cracks of rocks and provide a green shade for children in the mountains.
This is Zhuolin's ordinary and profound life, and it is also the epitome of thousands of Chinese grassroots educators who have taken root in their hometown and dedicated themselves silently. Without spotlights, flowers or applause, they carried the hope of the times with their small bodies and wrote the most touching educational biography on the land of Fudingshan with silent perseverance.
