Reborn in the 1970s: Starting Out as a Barefoot Doctor

After Chen Jianhong is caught in a plane crash, he is reborn in 1970, at the turning point of his life: the barefoot doctor selection exam at the Lishuping Brigade. He carries with him the medical skills of a master physician and a portable medicinal garden space he acquired through a late-life stroke of fortune.

In his previous life, he unexpectedly failed the exam. He spent more than a decade teaching himself in the countryside, buried in obscurity, before finally taking advantage of the changing times to move to the city and practice medicine, where his career began to flourish.

By then, it was already too late to undo the regrets involving his family, and he was trapped in a miserable marriage. His career was also held back by his lack of formal qualifications and a master to train under. No matter how skilled he was, the world of traditional Chinese medicine refused to accept him.

Reborn, he resolves to rewrite his tragic fate: sever the doomed relationship from his past life, protect his family and make up for what he owes them, break free of society's obsession with diplomas and lineages, and reach the pinnacle of traditional Chinese medicine, establishing it among the leading fields of life science.

From a barefoot doctor in the countryside to a master physician at the height of his era, Chen Jianhong's legendary life begins anew.

(This novel takes a realistic, slice-of-life approach, with a slow build and few intense, melodramatic conflicts.)
