The Coffin Bearer

The village's richest man is being laid to rest. An eight-man sedan chair carries the coffin to the village entrance, where it suddenly grows unbearably heavy and blood seeps from the carrying ropes. Chen Baliang, the eighteen-year-old heir to the coffin-bearer's trade, is pushed to the front pole. The moment he touches the coffin, he sees black threads wrapped around the dead man's body. The thickest one leads to the person who killed him. In front of everyone, Chen Baliang announces, “This man was murdered, and the killer is in the funeral procession.”
