Spring in the Forbidden Palace

To help Yuwen Shu ascend the throne, Jins e, a fake princess, gives him everything she has.

Yuwen Shu promises that once he becomes emperor, he will make Jins e his empress. But then he turns around and asks to marry another woman, letting her humiliate Jins e in every way and leave her deaf in one ear.

Only then does Jins e understand that, in his eyes, she was nothing but a stepping stone on his path to the throne.

Heartbroken, Jins e marries into the distant Southern Commandery and vanishes without a trace.

Five years later, the Empress Dowager dies, and an imperial decree summons Jins e back to the capital.

When the heartless emperor sees her return with a child, his eyes redden. He offers her the position of empress and begs her to divorce her husband.

Jins e looks at him and finds the whole thing laughable.

Why should she forgive him just because he regrets it?

Let anyone who wants the empress's crown have it. She has a husband who cherishes her and a sweet, considerate son. That's enough for her.

But Yuwen Shu goes mad, insisting the boy is his. He wants to take her away, and take her son too...

Yuwen Shu is rotten to the core. For the throne, he will pay any price and doesn't care whose heart he breaks.

Compared to the throne, what is a heart worth?

He thought ruling the world was enough, that he had no need for love.

But in the end, even after giving her the whole world, he could never win back the true heart he'd lost...
