Arnaud was originally the unpopular fourth prince. When he was young, he lived among the people. He used uncertified spells to save his companions, and he was also reprimanded by authoritative organizations for "illegal practice." He knew very well that in this Virian Empire, which was founded on the magic of speaking spirits, your origin almost determines how advanced the spells you can say.
When he unexpectedly sat on the throne, everyone thought he would keep to himself. However, he insists on challenging the most fundamental order of the empire - abolishing the monopoly of grade certification, opening up civilian education, and trying to have limited trade with the hostile Technology Federation.
But what he faces is not only the sword of the old nobles, but also the backlash of the "protector of the country" in the name of justice. Every reform edict opens a crack in the Empire State Building; every compromise and misjudgment accelerates the fall of the crown.
Civil war, forbidden curses, division, exile... He buried an empire with his own hands, but spent the rest of his life fighting for a dying language.
Before his death, he left a suicide note with only one sentence:
"Let every child grow up in his mother tongue."
This is a story about ideals, cost and redemption.
