"The Second Generation of Farmers Aiding Africa"
This is a realistic novel that focuses on the growth and transnational contributions of China's new generation of farmers. It tells the inspirational story of Du Zhuangzhuang, a young man from the Daba Mountains who transformed from a confused teenager who failed the college entrance examination to a key player in agricultural technology aid to Africa.
Twenty-year-old Du Zhuangzhuang hid back in his hometown in Shixiping after failing the college entrance examination. He was addicted to games all day long and lived in confusion. His father, Du Jiuchu, spent thirty years of painstaking research to cultivate drought-tolerant and high-yielding Dabashan upland rice, and wrote an excellent folk farming treatise "Secrets of Farming". In order to get his son out of the trough, Du Jiuchu cleverly set up a trap and sent Du Zhuangzhuang to the provincial capital for training on the pretext of learning drone technology.
By chance, Du Zhuangzhuang was selected into the African agricultural technology project team and went to Mozambique to carry out agricultural assistance tasks. In that vast red land, life with agricultural aid was far more difficult than imagined. The slash-and-burn farming practice practiced by African farmers for generations, the sudden cholera epidemic, and the raging locust plague have made this "second-generation farmer" and project team members face multiple challenges, and the road to aid to Africa is full of thorns.
From the initial blind confidence to self-doubt after encountering setbacks, to working with the team and building trust with local villagers, Du Zhuangzhuang gradually grew into a technical backbone capable of taking charge of his own work.
At the end of the story, Du Zhuangzhuang returned to school for further studies with the results of the harvest in Warhol Village, and in that distant African land, the seeds of Chinese agriculture had already taken root.
