In the history of Chinese dynasties, the Song Dynasty was the only one with contradictions.
In terms of prosperity, it was separated from the streets of the Han and Tang Dynasties. People had night markets, takeaways, and banknotes. Literati wrote lyrics and paintings, and porcelain reached its peak. It can be called the ceiling of ancient civilization. In terms of grievance, it was suppressed and beaten by the Liao, Xixia, Jin, and Mongolia in turns for three hundred years. Indemnities were paid, territories were ceded, and vassals were declared. In the end, hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians crossed the sea and ended up subjugated.
Some people say that Song Dynasty was weak, while others praised Song Dynasty for his character. In fact, from a yellow robe in Chenqiaoyi to a vast ocean in Yashan, all love, hate, intrigue, character, and absurdity are hidden in this group of flesh-and-blood Song people.
In the next three hundred years or so, we will not talk about boring chronology, but only about living people and events from the beginning to the end of the Song Dynasty.
