Spring Evening Breeze

Jiang Han, a forensic doctor from the Municipal Public Security Bureau, is accustomed to being in the company of death and cold scalpels. His heart is like still water, and he is never moved by the joys and sorrows of the world. He met Su Jiu under the crabapple tree in early spring. The girl suffers from a severe hereditary coagulation disorder and her body is fragile and soft. Even a slight bump may cause fatal bleeding. The disinfectant water collided with the incense of crabapple, and the cold-hearted forensic doctor bent down willingly to protect her in a windless place. He read papers on blood diseases, prepared a complete box of first-aid medicine, avoided all rugged roads, and planned for the spring evening breeze every year; she hid the worsening test results, endured the severe pain in her body, and did not want to be a burden that would drag down his life. Love grows in the gentle spring, but hidden dangers are buried deep in the peaceful daily life. Everyone thought they could stay together and watch the flowers, but fate has laid the cruelest fate. In an accident, Su Jiu died suddenly. According to public security procedures, the bodies sent to the morgue were assigned to Jiang Han for examination. This was the first complete dissection he had undertaken independently after becoming a regular employee. Lying on the dissecting table was the lover he cherished in his heart and promised to spend all the years together. He can cut open the body, see through all the truths of death, and solve countless mysteries of life and death in the world, but he can only save his sweetheart. Later, every spring the evening breeze remained the same, the begonias bloomed every year, and half of the benches were empty. From then on, there was no more spring breeze in the world, and Su Jiu was no longer there to accompany him to watch the flowers.
