Story introduction
As war rages across northern Hunan in troubled times, progressive young man Lin Wenxuan shoulders the mission of going deep into the mountains and fields to connect the people with anti-Japanese forces.
He met Orion Chen Dashan by chance. When they first met, they had conflicting ideas and argued endlessly. The grassroots self-defense forces under Chen Dashan experienced a bloody battle to clear the countryside by the Japanese army. After witnessing the sacrifice of their companions, they suddenly realized that they relied on the dense forests of western Hunan to set up an ambush and severely damaged the invading Japanese invaders.
Soon the team was organized into the Xiangbei Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Detachment. Chen Dashan served as the team leader and Lin Wenxuan served as the political commissar. They began to rectify the loose military discipline and conflicts within the team continued to ferment.
When accompanying the main force on missions, the regular troops stuck to their doctrine and missed opportunities. Unwilling to sit back and watch the enemy troops evacuate, Chen Dashan privately led a roundabout raid and won a great victory but seriously violated military orders.
At the critical moment of accountability, Lin Wenxuan, who has always abided by the rules, stepped forward and argued for the safety of Chen Dashan. When the smoke cleared, the two put aside their long-term antagonism and developed a special tacit understanding of knowing each other's truth and fighting the enemy side by side. They joined hands to take root in the mountains and fight against Japan together.
