This is an epic without an absolute protagonist.
The twin gods of light and shadow arose from chaos and created forty gods. They were scattered in the mortal world, and they understood their "Tao" from the moss and bones. Elves sing in the moonlight of the Origin Forest, and lizardmen worship over the bones of the Resting Swamp. The Luma people crawled out of the lava and rotten leaves, and the former He people and the Sambati people relied on their terrifying fertility talents to turn "number" itself into a weapon that silenced the gods.
The undead are wandering in search of a home, the beasts are gathering into an army under oppression, and humans are trying to rebuild order on the ruins of the empire. When the wind of magic rages due to pollution, and when the seal is loosened, those forgotten monsters come out of the fog again - what really makes people despair is not how strong the enemy is, but that the companions around you may only last half a day longer than you.
If you are tired of cool articles about "the protagonist challenges the world alone", you might as well read here - everyone here is being beaten by the world, but no one falls. This book does not have a single protagonist. It is a multi-line parallel group epic. Each civilization in this book only refers to some real-life civilizations and cultures. It does not represent personal preferences or opinions. Please do not blindly bring extreme emotions.
Introduction text:
The twin gods of light and shadow arose from chaos and created forty gods. They were scattered in the mortal world, and they understood their "Tao" from the moss and bones.
Elves sing in the moonlight of the Origin Forest, and lizardmen worship over the bones of the Resting Swamp. The Luma people climbed out of the lava and rotten leaves, and the former He people and the Sambati people relied on their terrifying fertility talents to turn "quantity" itself into the weapon that most silences the gods.
When war swept the entire world, hundreds of tribes rose up together. Some people have wandered for thousands of years for revenge, some are seeking an inch of land for their race, and some are wearing golden masks to establish order in the abyss. Undead, beasts, humans, gods, all lives that are swept up in the tide of the times, are all answering the same question in their own way:
How do you carve a way for yourself when the world doesn't give you a way out?
This is not a novel about heroes, but a giant mural painted with countless corpses and ashes about how civilization struggles to survive. If you are willing to finish reading this work, then I will open up a rich, fantasy and multi-line parallel world for you.
