In my fourth month as a clerk at the Municipal Legal Aid Center, I finally lost the filter I had on "legal work" when I first came here.
There are no tense courtroom confrontations in movies and TV dramas, and there are no glamorous office scenes. My work station is at the convenience window in the innermost part of the hall, separated by a layer of transparent glass, which catches the most minute and embarrassing human suffering in this city every day. My job is simple and rigid: checking proof of financial difficulties, entering case information, organizing dossier materials, and assigning lawyers. I strictly follow the procedures of the Legal Aid Law and organize every request for help into legally compliant text and files.
