As global sea levels rise, coastal lands are submerged. Humanity builds a massive “Beta” space station in the deep sea, hoping to extract a new form of energy from the ocean. The protagonist, Lu Chen, is a “deep-sea dream reader.” Using neural-link technology, he reads residual memories from ancient giant creatures caught in the deep sea, known as “Leviathans,” searching for clues to energy sources. But during one deep-link session, he encounters an “entity of consciousness” pulsing within the deep-sea crust, something beyond the limits of human understanding. It means no harm, but the way it “thinks” is like the tides: slow, immense, and irreversible. Through Lu Chen’s dreams, it begins sending an “invitation” to all humanity: an ultimate destination where land-based civilization and deep-sea consciousness merge into a state that is neither life nor death. Human politicians and the military try to classify it as a “weapon” and bring it under control, while Lu Chen discovers that he is the only fragile bridge capable of “translating” this interspecies conversation.
