Chen Nian finished the college entrance exam with a score of just 318.
At a class reunion the next day, everyone mocked him, leaving him thoroughly humiliated.
But after enduring their insults, he awakened the Countywide College Entrance Exam Rebate System.
As long as a test-taker is from his county, the System returns one hundred times their total exam score.
The worst-performing county in the province? I'll pour twenty million into a college entrance exam prep fund!
Poor teaching resources? I'll pay top dollar to recruit renowned teachers from home and abroad!
The schools are in bad shape? I'll spend tens of millions to tear them down and rebuild them with natural-grass sports fields!
The cafeteria food is awful? I'll bring in Michelin-starred chefs from around the world to work as cafeteria ladies!
In the end, everyone in the county becomes a top student, and I become one of the country's outstanding philanthropists in education.
People ask me how I did it.
I smile and say, “You just weren't willing to spend the money.”
