“What’s the best branch of the military?”
“Obviously the army. The army’s special forces are unbeatable!”
“Bull. The air force is the best. Fighter jets, attack helicopters, now that gets your blood pumping!”
“Shut up. With the marines around, who dares claim they’re the best?”
Listening to the old soldiers around him argue endlessly, Wang Nian grinned. “Hehe, what’s so hard about that? If you want to know who’s the best, why not try them all?”
And so, Wang Nian began his fourth enlistment.
On his first day at boot camp: “What do you mean, they’ve got an all-around ace?”
One month later: “What do you mean, the drill instructor’s no better than a raw recruit?”
Three months later: “What is he even trying to do? How has one guy raised the entire company’s ceiling?”
Wang Nian: “What are you all mumbling about? Watch me run five kilometers with a cigarette in my mouth!”
