The Nine Desolations Sink Beneath the Heavens

When primordial chaos first stirred, the Nine Wilds came into being. The Celestial Emperor Cang Yuan ruled over the prosperous Primordial Era, while the four ancient innate gods worked together to maintain the balance of heaven and earth. The Water God Xuan Xi was imprisoned in the Nine Hells for countless ages. Loneliness and resentment festered, spawning inner demons. He cultivated a path of world destruction with the turbid energy of chaos, igniting a war across the heavens that lasted a hundred thousand years. At last, the Celestial Emperor sealed him in the Demon Abyss and laid down an age-old curse to sink the heavens and destroy the world. As the years passed, the Heavenly Dao grew increasingly damaged and the seal weakened year by year. A fragment of Xuan Xi’s demonic soul was reborn into the mortal world as Hu Qingyuan, an ordinary boy from Oakgrove in the Eastern Lands. Outwardly mild-mannered and ordinary, he carried the fate of world destruction deep within his soul. Night after night, he glimpsed the secrets of the ancient divine war in his dreams. As he experienced the warmth and coldness of human life and felt compassion for all living beings, he also endured the corruption of the Demon Lord’s resentment, caught between protecting the Heavenly Dao and overturning the old order. The grievances and grudges of the gods of old converged within him, and the fate of all living beings rested on a single thought. Hu Qingyuan must see through the illusions of good and evil and, amid the struggles of gods and demons and the workings of reincarnation and karma, forge a path to the Dao that is uniquely his own. He alone must decide whether the Nine Wilds will endure and be reborn, or whether all paths will return to the void and the heavens will sink forever.
