Unrestrained Delight

Second chances at love + reunion after years apart + a regretful ex pursuing his wife + both leads are faithful Resilient, sensitive flower-shop baker × composed, restrained airline captain Zhou Yan grew up in a wealthy family and dreamed of flying through the blue sky. He lived an exceptionally disciplined life at the aviation academy. The only exception was that he had a girlfriend. Their youthful love was passionate and all-consuming. They were together for four years, until a carefully planned betrayal, using him as a stepping stone, ended what he had thought was a one-sided devotion. Six years later, when Ning Zhen runs into her ex-boyfriend again at a class reunion, the person she’s delivering a cake to turns out to be Zhou Yan. Zhou Yan looks cool and distant, his pilot’s uniform crisp and immaculate. Ning Zhen glances down at the mud on the hem of her skirt and retreats in humiliation. Ning Zhen keeps to herself in the ivory tower where she has changed her name, refusing to come out. Zhou Yan knows nothing of the truth. Just as she expected, he hates her and keeps his distance. Yet in private, his eyes quietly redden, and he suffers such bad insomnia that he has to see a therapist. Then the truth behind their breakup all those years ago is finally revealed. Zhou Yan is consumed with regret, but discovers that he can no longer find her. At the end of the haze, Zhou Yan gazes at the raging currents and hidden tides below. He plunges into the chaos without a second thought and races toward her. “Ning Zhen, I’ll wait for you. I love you. Give me a chance to make things right. This time, I won’t let you slip away again.” Love endures, and all that remains in this life is unrestrained joy.
