The rain in the Gray City is always like this, pouring down from the leaden gray clouds without any warning, as if it is trying to wash away all the dirt in the city. But Shen Zhuo knew that some things could never be washed away - such as the blood seeping into the cracks of bricks in the alleys of the old city, or the stale rust smell on the third floor of the abandoned post office.
He stopped the car and shook the water droplets from his helmet. The order shows the destination as "The third floor of the abandoned post office in the old city." No one dares to stay in a place like this during the day, let alone at night. But he never asks why when he takes an order - in Gray City, curiosity is the most luxurious and deadly thing.
There were no lights in the corridor, only the sound of rain dripping down the cracks in the ceiling, like some kind of countdown. Shen Zhuo walked to the third floor and knocked on the door.
"Just leave it at the door." A deep male voice came from inside.
As soon as he bent down to put down the takeout bag, he heard a muffled sound - like the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground. Shen Zhuo frowned and reached out to open the door.
Under the dim light, a man fell beside the table with a broken dagger stuck in his chest. Spread out on the table were a copper key and a broken map.
Shen Zhuo took two steps closer and accidentally touched the key with his finger - in an instant, images flashed in his mind: a rainy night, running black figures, and the sound of blood dripping on the map.
He jerked his hand away, but it was already too late. The sound of footsteps came from the end of the corridor, not hurriedly, but coming straight here.
Shen Zhuo grabbed the keys and stuffed them into his pocket, turned over and jumped out of the window. The rain hit my face, freezing to the bone. He knew that from this moment on, his delivery career was over.
