I Only Wanted to Be a Corrupt Official, So How Did I Become a Legendary Chancellor?

Ying Tai transmigrates to a parallel Great Qin and takes office as county magistrate of remote Taolu, equipped with the strongest Corrupt Official System.

If he is executed by the court for corruption, he can take his ill-gotten wealth back to the modern world.

But if he dies at the hands of refugees or bandits, he will be dead for real.

Disaster ravages Taolu County, and relief grain has been siphoned away. Ying Tai decides to seek death by amassing wealth.

He orders grain merchants to raise prices tenfold, confiscates seventy percent of their profits, and sells the relief grain at exorbitant prices.

He imposes harsh taxes and levies, plundering every household. Anyone who misses the deadline has their home demolished and their property confiscated. His methods are utterly brutal.

He forces the people to build his private residence, while also strengthening the city's defenses. He fabricates charges to confiscate wealthy families' assets and line his own pockets.

The people hate him to the bone. They join together to file a complaint, vowing to make the court execute this bloodthirsty corrupt official.

When the Great Qin emperor hears of this, he flies into a rage and immediately orders Ying Tai's entire clan put to death.

But before the emperor can issue the decree, the crown prince brings a canopy presented by the grateful people to court and pleads for Ying Tai.

“Your Majesty, Magistrate Ying must not be executed! He is a great benefactor of our Great Qin...”
