The Canary in Shangshu Mansion

The most outrageous thing Wen Heng ever did in his life was climbing over a wall to chase a young man on the Lantern Festival when he was fifteen years old. The boy's name was Shen Zhaoci, an orphan adopted by her father. Wen Heng has liked him since she was seven years old, and she has liked him for eight years, but he has always kept the right distance from her - gentle, restrained, and not going too far. What Wen Heng didn't know was that there was a fire buried in Shen Zhaoci's heart. His father died unjustly, and the key testimony that pushed the Shen family into the abyss came precisely from her father, Wen Boyong, the Minister of Civil Affairs at the time. On one side is the grace of upbringing, on the other side is the blood feud. Shen Zhaoci spent twelve years to find out the truth, but ended up in a dead end between revenge and affection. He finally succeeded in overturning the case and cleared his father's wrongdoing. But he also fell before dawn. When he was dying, he held Wen Heng's hand and said the words he had hidden for more than ten years: "I like you. I have liked you since the day you fell from the tree when you were seven years old." He did not wait for the sweet-scented osmanthus to bloom again in Chang'an City. And Wen Heng spent his whole life waiting for someone who would never come back. ——That Shangyuan Festival where you jumped over the wall to chase me, I just want to tell you: I like you too. Unfortunately, in this life, I owe too much and can give too little.
