In the second year of Shunzhi, the king of Chuang Li Zicheng was killed in Jiugong Mountain. Liu Tichun, Yuan Zongdi, and Hao Yaoqi led the remaining troops to travel thousands of miles to Kuimen in eastern Sichuan and took root deep in Bashan. Established the headquarters camp and anti-Qing base in Chenjiaba (now Jiaochangba, Yanduhe Town, Badong County). They opened up wasteland, cultivated land, boiled salt to benefit the people, and set the military rule of "driving out the Qing Dynasty and loving the people." Li Laiheng led his troops to surrender and built the commander's mansion in Maolu Mountain. Refugees from all over came back after hearing the news, crying about the tragedy of the Yangzhou Ten-Day Massacre and the Three Massacres in Jiading. Liu Tichun knelt down to receive the Confucian robe and vowed to restore Chinese clothes.
Liu Tichun went to Liangshan in person to form an alliance with the Yi Han. In July of the third year of Yongli, in July 1649, the governor Wen Anzhi came to Kuidong in person to pass on the emperor's order and named Liu Tichun the Duke of Anhui, Yuan Zongdi the Duke Jing, Hao Yaoqi the Duke Yi, and Li Laiheng the Duke Lin. The leaders of the thirteen families swore a blood oath and jointly elected Liu Tichun as the leader of the alliance. Two hundred thousand people were divided into the "Sixteenth Battalion of the Loyalty Battalion," and guarded separately. They allied together. The flag of the "Thirteen Families of Kuidong" was flying high in the wind.
In the twelfth lunar month of 1663, in front of Tianchi Village, Liu Tichun hanged himself with a bowstring and died for his country. He was only over 50 years old. On the Yellow Grassland, Yuan Zongdi and Hao Waiqi were captured after fighting hard and died unyielding. In August 1664, in Maolu Mountain, Li Laiheng set himself on fire with his family, a loyal family.
From the second year of Shunzhi to the third year of Kangxi, the Thirteen Families of Kuidong persisted in resisting the Qing Dynasty for nineteen years and fought more than a hundred battles. They were an iron-blooded team that persisted to the end of the Yongli Dynasty of the Southern Ming Dynasty. They composed a magnificent heroic song with their flesh and blood. Their names will forever be engraved in the mountains and rivers of Bashan; their spirit will inspire the Chinese people to persevere, resist oppression, and protect China's clothes for thousands of generations.
