The historian Zhu You transmigrates as the Chongzhen Emperor and opens his eyes to find a three-foot strip of white silk hanging around his neck!
Li Zicheng is about to breach the capital. The officials have fled, and the eunuchs are holding out the silk.
He knows this ending for the Ming dynasty all too well!
But in this life, he's going to defy fate and change his destiny!
With one hand, he seizes corrupt officials' fortunes to reward the army. With the other, he takes Wu Sangui's father hostage to force him to send reinforcements.
The civil officials plead poverty? My blade knows exactly where the silver is!
The rebel army breaks through the gates? My gunpowder kegs are just the cure for bandits!
Standing atop the Meridian Gate with blood staining his imperial robes, Zhu You declares to the world:
“Li Zicheng, I've seen the whole script. I will defend the gates of the Ming dynasty!”
