Prologue
In the early 2010s, Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen was at the height of its glory. Knockoff phones, knockoff tablets, and all kinds of phone accessories provided livelihoods for countless people in the electronics industry. Two middle-aged Hong Kong electronics workers who had just lost their jobs, along with a few good-for-nothing friends, went from having nothing to owning five companies across Hong Kong, China, and overseas in just five years. They had no divine protection or supernatural powers, only two hearts that refused to give up. The two protagonists take turns narrating each chapter, with laughter, arguments, tears, and triumphs, bearing witness to Huaqiangbei's rise and fall. If you're a Hong Konger who once made a living in Shenzhen or Huaqiangbei, spent time in Shenzhen bars or massage parlors, or visited Huaqiangbei to buy electronics, will this story strike a chord or bring a knowing smile?
