She Returns with Her Child, and Her Ex-Husband Begs at Her Feet

[Marriage first, love later + reunion after years apart + mending a broken relationship + both devoted to each other + angsty push and pull + groveling ex: every trope in the book!]

Four years later, when An Ning meets Lu Xiyan again, she is wearing the cheapest clothes from the wholesale market. Someone has just slapped her, and she is crouched at his feet, picking up a hospital payment slip.

He is aloof and distinguished, beyond her reach, and on the verge of getting engaged.

He is no longer the motorcycle-riding boy who once had eyes only for her, but a powerful business tycoon who rules the capital's elite circles.

And she is nothing but a divorced woman.

The two of them seem to have returned to where they stood six years ago: one a favored son of heaven, the other a poor girl.

That day, the lights at the club are hazy.

She deliberately hires a male escort, sits on his lap, and teases him as she pours him drinks.

Just as she deliberately reaches for the escort's buttons, someone yanks her to her feet.

She turns around to see Lu Xiyan in a suit, his eyes bloodshot.

His voice drips with scorn. "An Ning, have you no shame?"

With red-rimmed eyes, An Ning asks, "Lu Xiyan, do you still want me?"

His expression is indifferent, like a lofty god who looks down on the world. "What makes you think I, Lu Xiyan, would want a woman who divorced another man and even has a brat in tow?"

Later, she makes up her mind to leave and withdraw from his world once more.

But one dimly lit night, Lu Xiyan pins her to the sofa and kisses her fiercely, frantic with emotion. "This time, how long are you going to leave me for?"

The man, usually so cool and proud, lowers himself to his knees beside her legs, tears in his eyes as he pleads. "An Ning, please love me one more time!"
